Growing up in the 80’s was quite interesting. It was the era before the widespread use of computers in Malaysia and we grew up actually socializing with other kids around the neighbourhood and playing actual games and sports instead of hiding behind a PC screen like the millennials. We also learned to be adaptable with the introduction of computers in the late 80’s and early 90’s and with it the internet which brought along a whole world of multimedia.

But before the PC era (and iPods and MP3 players, all we had to listen to music was the radio, CDs and cassette tapes which we played through our Walkmans and stereos. One of the iconic artistes of the era was Richard Marx – who had all the girls swooning over him and his love songs, and the guys picking up guitar in an attempt to serenade and impress the girls by singing his songs. I for one don’t know how to play the guitar but I did know how to play the piano (although I haven’t really played my piano for like 20 years now) which was great for ” Right Here Waiting for You”.

So I’m actually quite excited to go watch the upcoming Richard Marx ” The Solo Tour” Live in Kuala Lumpur which will be held on 9 March 2016 at 8.30pm and will be held at the Plenary Hall in Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. Those of you who have gone karaoke with me would know that I do like to sing his greatest hits “Right Here Waiting for You” and “Now and Forever”.
