Analogous to scenes from Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland, Tan Yeow Wooi’s Panicrama photo exhibition turns otherwise bland landscapes into whimsical urbanscapes that twist, wiggle and dance with a life of their own. The highlight of the exhibition is a book which showcases Tan’s unique photography, along with talks on the techniques and concepts involved in the art form.

Tan is a Penang-based architect who specialises in heritage conservation. Besides working as a photographer and a visual artist, he is also the director of the Tan Yeow Wooi Culture and Heritage Research Studio and author of three major publications: “Leong San Tong Khoo Kongsi: The History and Architecture (2003)”, “Kapitan Chung Keng Kwee’s Shen Zhi Jia Shu and Hai Ji Zhan (2013)” and “Penang Shophouses: A Handbook of Features and Materials (2015)”. In addition to this, Tan screened his short documentary films Rojak Penang 1 and Rojak Penang 2 at the George Town Heritage Celebrations in 2012 and 2013.
