The Asian premiere of King of Ghosts by Soumik Datta Arts

We are proud to bring Soumik Datta and his creative team to Kuala Lumpur in collaboration with the British Council.

This breathtaking, unique cinematic collaboration was originally produced by the Scottish Chamber Orchestra , the Edinburgh Mela festival, and rising world music star Soumik Datta, who has worked with Beyonce, Nitin Sawhney, Talvin Singh and Bill Bailey.

The King of Ghosts is a brand new score inspired by the classic Indian film, a 1968 fantasy adventure comedy by Oscar-winning master Satyajit Ray. Performed in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness and Perth as part of its World Premiere tour, King Of Ghosts weaves Indian folk rhythms and rich orchestral textures into a gorgeous, atmospheric experience, as live scenes from the film are projected above the musicians and the audience is transported into a fairytale.

Presented in collaboration with the British Council.

We are deeply appreciative to Az Samad for agreeing to host the post concert talk with Soumik Datta.
