OVERVIEW

• Grasshopper is a Hong Kong Cantopop boy group that debuted in 1985. The band, made up of Edmond So Chi Wai, Calvin Choy Yat Chi and Remus Choy Yat Kit, is well-known for its popular, catchy songs and stage presence. In 1985, The Grasshopper band members auditioned at the Hong Kong Talent Singing Awards, where they received one-on-one time with one of the judges, Anita Mui, during a blackout session. The boys were thrilled when the international superstar herself offered them the opportunity to perform as her backup singers and dancers. 
• The trio released their first album in 1988 and continued to go on tour with Anita Mui. In 1990, they rose to fame in the Taiwanese music market and remained active throughout much of the decade. Songs like Lonely and 忘情森巴舞 became hits when released in 1991. Since then, Grasshopper has become a national favourite in the Chinese market. Although the trio took a break from the music industry after years of success, Grasshopper has remained intact as a unit. The group never broke up and has continued to reunite periodically in order to perform together.
