World Meteorological Day takes place every year on 23 March and commemorates the coming into force on 23 March 1950 of the Convention establishing the World Meteorological Organisation. It showcases the essential contribution of National Meteorological and Hydrological Services to the safety and wellbeing of society and is celebrated with activities around the world. The themes chosen for World Meteorological Day reflect topical weather, climate or water-related issues.

The ever-growing global population faces a wide range of hazards such as tropical cyclone storm surges, heavy rains, heatwaves, droughts and many more. Long-term climate change is increasing the intensity and frequency of extreme weather and climate events and causing sea level rise and ocean acidification. Urbanisation and the spread of megacities means that more of us are exposed and vulnerable. Now more than ever, we need to be weather-ready, climate-smart and water-wise.

How does a Virtual Run work?

• Register on a Virtual Run event
• Use a GPS-tracking running app to track your run
• Track and finish the run
• Submit/upload it on your profile at the top of the page
• We will verify it and send your finisher awards

How To Upload Result

• After the run, the screenshot of the run/walk results must be sent for submission. (It should contain the distance, timing and date of the run)
• Submission of run results are to be made via the "Virtual Run Result Upload"

How To Check Total Mileage Completed

• Submission of run results via the " Virtual Run Result Upload"

1. You can start your run on 1st March 2019, Friday. 
2. Your run record last day ends on 21st March 2019, Thursday.
3. Last submission date is 23rd March 2019, Saturday (23:59) GMT+08.
4. No completion, no finisher items policy is in effect. 
5. No refund upon completion of registration.
6. Pedometers are not allowed.
7. All GPS-based applications are accepted.
8. Your participation will be disqualified if fraudulent results are found.
9. You may complete the challenge in multiple runs. 
10. Finisher awards will be delivered within 10 working days after 23 March 2019.
