This Chinese New Year, the 3 Asian Divas, consisting of veteran icons Frances Yip, Elisa Chan and Maria Cordero, returns to the Arena of Stars for their annual concert. The three are best known for their multilingual singing abilities in English, Cantonese, Mandarin and Bahasa Malaysia, as well as their powerful vocal range, mastered and perfected over their 30 year-long music career.
Although Yip first rose to stardom in the 1980s for performing theme songs on TVB TV shows, her career continued to flourish as she performed sell-out shows in places like Singapore, Hong Kong, China and Macau. Despite her long-standing career, she shows no sign of slowing down as she actively performs as a soloist and a member of the Asian Divas.
As Hong Kong’s biggest star in the 80s, Chan’s ticket to fame arrived when her frequent collaboration with the late Leslie Cheung resulted in melancholic love songs like <只怕不再遇上> and <誰令你心痴>. Since then, she has released multiple hits of her own, including <无言地等>,<白金升降机>, and <风是冷>.
Through humble beginnings, Cordero, better known as Fat Mama started her singing career in a small town disco back in the 1980s. By word of mouth, her name gradually reached music and television producers, who expanded her career and transformed into a singer, actress and TV personality that we all know and love today.
