Mohd Fakarudin Masod

Mohd Fakarudin began his career in 2000 as a Research and Development Executive in a private company and later joined the Ministry of Health, Malaysia (MOH) in 2003. He joined JAKIM in 2004 until present and his current position is as Chief Assistant Director. He had participated in many meetings related to Halal issues and was involved as committee member in developing Malaysia Standard MS 1500:2009 and Handbook of Halal Food Additives.

He participated in various TV programmes such as Ejen Halal (TV Al-Hijrah), Documentary program (NHK), RTM and was a guest speaker on radio Nasional FM and Salam FM. He had also appeared in several newspaper and magazines regarding halal issues including Berita Harian, Harian Metro, Majalah Al-Islam etc.

Hanisofian Alias

Hanisofian Alias is currently the Vice President in the Industry Development Division of the Halal Industry Development Corporation (HDC). He joined HDC in 2008 and has since managed several portfolios within HDC, specifically in the area of SME’s capacity building, market access, product innovation and program development.

From 2011 - 2015, he lead the Halal Business Transformation (HBT) program, an iconic initiative introduced by HDC to assist the SMEs in Malaysia to build their competitiveness in the Halal industry; focusing on compliance, marketing strategies, financing and branding. The HBT program was awarded the best “outcome-based” initiative the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) in 2013.

Prior to joining HDC, he has 13 years working experience with a multi-national company in the departments of new product design and development, manufacturing operation, supplier quality management and innovative project management to enhance quality, productivity and cost improvement.


Mohd Rithaudden Makip

Mohd Rithaudden is currently the Chief Ecosystem Development Officer with SME Corporation Malaysia, a Central Coordinating Agency under the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development that formulates overall policies and strategies for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and coordinates the implementation of SME development programmes across all related Ministries and Agencies.

Prior to joining SME Corp. Malaysia, he was the Vice President  ofChannel  Management  at  a reputable  bank  inMalaysia  overseeing  the branchdevelopment,  physical  andvirtual touch points of the bank. He has held various positions and responsibilities in various departments and financial institutions in his 12 years within the banking sector.

He holds a Bachelor of Management Studies in Management System and Marketing from University of Waikato, Hamilton, New Zealand. He presented and moderated papers on SMEs and entrepreneurship in specific platforms such as ASEAN, APEC, APO, JICA, OECD, G20, and OIC. He represented Malaysia in APEC SME Working Group, ASEAN SME Working Group, FTAs, and other bilateral relationships and is currently the co-chair of ASEAN-Korea Working Group of Economic Cooperation.

Dato Dr Sirajuddin

Dato’ Dr. Sirajuddin Suhaimee is currently the Director of Malaysia Halal Secretariat. He was previously the Director of Halal Hub Division, Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) which he joined in 2006 before being posted to Australia in 2008 as Halal Attache’ (First Secretary (Halal) at the Malaysian High Commission, Canberra, Australia for six (6) years, until March 2014.

Having had various experiences at domestic and international level, for example in Capacity development program with Halal Certification Bodies, he was involved in a number of international Halal seminars, conferences and workshops around the globe, sharing the Malaysian experiences on Halal.


Dato Michael Tio

As a student, Dato’ Michael Tio started a business that exported luxury pre-owned vehicles but returned to Malaysia in 1996 to join the family business PKT Logistics Group.

With his philosophy of “Dream of it, Talk about it, Plan for it, Work on it and Get it”, he lead PKT to be a leading niche logistics service provider in Malaysia with presence in South Korea, Taiwan and most ASEAN countries. He made Facebook compulsory in PKT and currently has more than 1,000,000 Facebook followers.

He is the CEO of Malaysia Book of Records, appointed as an Adjunct Professor by University Utara Malaysia and selected as one of the Top CEOs under the CEO Faculty Program under the Jabatan Pengajian Politeknik Malaysia and Ministry of Education. In November 2018, he was conferred The Honorary Doctor of Philosophy in Logistics Management by Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM).

His accolades include the Frost and Sullivan Niche Logistics Service Provider of the Year, Sinchew Business Excellence Person of the Year and Star SOBA Entrepreneur of the Year.


Kelvin Ngow

Kelvin’s affinity for coffee began during his 7 years of education in Melbourne, Australia. His first venture into high end audio equipment hit a brick wall in the 1997 recession. This became a valuable lesson which he put to good use once he started with Coffex.

He adopted a business approach that allowed him to have full leverage within the industry and in 2003 Coffex had its big break when it took over a company that wanted to terminate coffee supplies to the hotels. Within 6 months he managed to turn things around and after 15 years, most of the hotels are still dealing with Coffex.

As a founder of Coffex Coffee in Malaysia and catalyst for the rise of coffee culture in Malaysia, Kelvin founded the National Malaysia Barista Championship as well as founding member of Malaysia Specialty Coffee Association. He is also the first certified Q grader in Malaysia with his gourmet coffee roaster being the first accredited with ISO 22000 Quality Management System with Halal certification.


Moderator's Profile

Eqhwan Mokhzanee

Eqhwan has more than 20 years of corporate and financial services experience. He started his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers in London before joining the corporate advisory practice of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Kuala Lumpur.

Prior to joining AmBank Islamic, Eqhwan worked with local and foreign banks, and in the corporate sector, where he gained experience in inter alia business development, debt capital markets, corporate finance, corporate banking, financial advisory, real estate investment and international business. He has developed award-winning and innovative Islamic financial structures, and authored research papers on Islamic finance.

Eqhwan has Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Economics from the University of Cambridge, United Kingdom. He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accounts in England and Wales (ICAEW), Chartered Accountant with the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA), Chartered Banker with the Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers (AICB) and Chartered Professional in Islamic Finance with the Chartered Institute of Islamic Finance (CIIF).
