Workshop Brief
You've heard about it, but how much do you know about the traditional art of wayang kulit?
Traditional performing art like Wayang Kulit can be hard to understand especially when it is performed in Kelantanese dialect. Today, the art form is diminishing but its significance as a means of entertainment infused with local culture and traditions back in the days is evermore profound now.
In this sharing session by the Kakiseni team, Lyla and Shufitri you
will:
- Know the origin and influences of Wayang Kulit Kelantan in Malaysia
- Learn the elements of Wayang Kulit
- Know the music instruments used by the troupe
- Identify general characteristics of puppets from other countries
- Understand the importance of the art form
Age range: 7 years old above
Workshop Facilitators' Bio

| It's Shufitri's job as the digital content manager for Kakiseni to get into the pulse of the arts scene in Malaysia. He himself is also an artist who illustrated for a book revolving the art of wayang kulit called Shadows, which required him to research on wayang kulit.
Lyla manages festivals and runs the programs in the community for Kakiseni. Aside from co-developing the programs’ syllabus, she works with schools, art practitioners, corporate and ministries for more Malaysians to have access to local arts and culture, especially children. |
