About this class
In layman's terms according to Forbes, cryptocurrencies are decentralized digital money that is based on blockchain technology and secured by cryptography. Almost impossible to counterfeit or double-spend, this new form of digital money relies on blockchain technology instead of traditional banks and other centralized middlemen to perform transactions.
While many attempted to create digital currencies ages ago, an anonymous entity that goes by the name of Satoshi Nakamoto developed Bitcoin, the first-ever cryptocurrency of the first blockchain. What started as a “purely peer-to-peer" version of electronic money has since taken the world by storm. About 300 million people, amounting to 4% of the world’s population are using cryptocurrencies in some form currently.
It might sound a bit complicated and daunting at first, but it is worth your attention. In this course, let us share with you more about it to stay ahead of the game.
