Details

Zoo Negara Keeperku Program is open to all participants aged 16 years old and above among students from schools, colleges and universities. Beside working with animals on Wildlife Husbandry & Enrichment, participants will also assist in the Education, Public Relations, Customer Service, Veterinary Hospital, Park & Gardens and other departments. Join us now!

Every Friday: 8.00 am - 12.30 pm (Half day), 8.00 am - 4.30 pm (Full day)

Every Saturday: 8.00 am - 12.30 pm (Half day), 8.00 am - 4.30 pm (Full day)

Rules & Regulations

  1. This programme is open to all students aged 16 years and above for schools, colleges and universities only. The Registration fee is RM35.00 per person for the contribution to the wildlife environmental program.
  2. The participant has to provide a copy of their student ID card along with the application.
  3. The participant must contact the Education Department at least two days before the arrival of the registered date to confirm his or her attendance or to cancel the booking date.
  4. Please enter through Gate 3. The participant is expected to arrive NO later than 8.00am. Late comers will NOT be entertained and will be advised to either come another day or pay the entrance fee to be a normal visitor.
  5. The participant must wear proper attire while on duty which includes covered shoes and long trousers. Open-toe shoes, shorts, jewellery and sleeveless tops are NOT allowed. Long hair must be tied neatly. A snack meal which is inclusive of a bun and mineral water will be provided for each participant. Participant is NOT allowed to bring outside food and drinks (inclusive of mineral water). For F&B bookings, please contact The Wild Restaurant at 019-326 0905.
  6. The participant is required to wear the KeeperKu sticker provided at all times while on site.
  7. Work might NOT be given according to the participant's preference. It is important that participant is healthy when joining this program in order to avoid any risk of transmitting diseases to the animals or others. This program is NOT SUITABLE for physically disabled or physically unfit person. 
  8. The participant is NOT allowed to record any pictures or videos of the captive animals, indoor cage or the animals' night quarters.
  9. The participant must never touch, handle or feed the animals at any time for any reason without permission from the Zoology Officer or Supervisor.
  10. The participant must never enter any enclosure with the animals without permission from the Zoology Officer or Supervisor and they are NOT allowed to remain on the zoo premises after working hours.
  11. An official KeeperKu Program's certificate is only given to participants who have completed a minimum of 40 hours (five full days) of this program. If you wish to collect your certificate, please email us at [email protected].
  12. The participant must immediately notify Zoo Negara Malaysia's personnel if any accidents or mishaps happen while on site. The participant must NOT interfere with the Management of Zoo Negara Malaysia.
  13. The participant is fully responsible for their own belongings, health and safety. The Management of Zoo Negara Malaysia and its personnel will NOT be held responsible for any accidents, losses, claims, damage or injuries to the participant or personal property.
  14. The Management of Zoo Negara Malaysia reserves the right to amend the rules and regulations without prior notification or giving any reasons.

Zoo Negara Malaysia

Zoo Negara Malaysia is managed by the Malaysian Zoological Society, a non-governmental organization established to create the first local zoo for Malaysians. Zoo Negara was officially opened on 14th November 1963 and has matured into a well-known zoo all around the world. We have a total of over 5137 specimen from 476 species of mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and fish. Zoo Negara covers 110 acres of land which is situated only 5km from the city of Kuala Lumpur. Over the years, the zoo has transformed itself to an open concept zoo with over 90% of its animals being kept in spacious exhibits with landscape befitting its nature. We are working in making sure that the old zoo concept is changed entirely.
