Once again Tanarata International Schools has done it. We have all come together to produce our Fourth Musical The King And I.
This is a 1944 semi-fictionalized biographical novel by Margaret Landon. First edition was (publ. John Day),in the early 1860s.
It is a delightful story of a widowed Welsh mother Anna Loenowens who becomes a governess and English tutor to the wives and many children of the stubborn King Mongkut of Siam. Anna and the king have a clash of personalities as she works to teach the royal family about the English language, customs, and etiquette, and rushes to prepare a party for a group of European diplomats who must change their opinions about the king. The setting is the ancient country of Siam or Thailand as it is known today.
This production of Tanarata International Schools recreates history in the form of a musical ballad – bringing to the audience an eye catching dance drama appealing to our eyes and ears. This time Tanarata has decided to bring history in its midst after having produced fantasy and fiction in the past.
