OtherHalf Studio presents OH!Tenang with Alena Murang, a sharing of live sape’ melodies, with it’s history of healing, and it’s innate intuition of nature’s harmonies. A weave of stories and sound. Immerse yourself in delicate textures akin to the tales shared and melodies sung within a Rumah Panjang. Indeed 'home is always where the heart is.'

Famed as a sape’ songstress, Alena sings in the endangered Kenyah and Kelabit languages and is the first woman to professionally play the lute instrument of the highland tribes of Borneo. Alena has carried the enchanting sounds of the sape’ to over 20 countries, from Iceland to Australia to Thailand to the USA.

With sold out concerts in Sarawak and Taipei, Alena Murang begins the year with us at OH!Tenang in Penang. Her songs inspired by elements of the sky - the thunder, rain, the sun, the morning mist, the stars, the moon; a contemplation how all of nature interacts.

What to Expect

Seating Experience
As this is a floor seating experience, ‘tikars’ / floor mats are provided and chairs will be provided upon request. Seats are based on a first come first serve basis.
As this is a very intimate space, most of the seatings should have a good view of the stage.

Show Time
Show starts at 3pm and 8pm respectively, for 50 minutes. Late Comers will not be permitted after curtains are closed. Curtains will open 15 mins before show time.

Photography
Any flash photography is not permitted.

Admission
There is a maximum of 2 spaces reserved for wheelchair individuals.
Children below the age of 3 are not allowed.

Food and Drinks
No food and drinks permitted inside venue.
