Details

The Management & Science University, through its Student & Career Development department, proudly presents the International Songket Run 4.0. Since the inaugural run in 2018, this event has sought to immerse the community in the rich heritage of songket, showcasing its beauty in clothing, handicrafts, and culture. The event particularly focuses on engaging youths and elevating the status of songket as an invaluable cultural legacy for ASEAN countries, with a special emphasis on Malaysia.

Under the esteemed patronage of Her Royal Highness, the Raja Permaisuri Selangor, the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd editions of the International Songket Run have been remarkable successes. Last year, the event attracted ten thousand participants, including students, local community members, and various stakeholders. Notably, during the 2nd Songket Run, the Management & Science University (MSU) was honored by the Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) with two prestigious awards:

1. The Largest Number of People Wearing or Incorporating Songket Elements in Their Attire at an Event
2. The Largest Participation in a Songket Running Event

The starting and finishing points for this year's International Songket Run will be at the MSU Campus, Section 13, Shah Alam. Participants can choose between a 5km and a 10km run, offering a physical challenge for all. The registration is open to both local and international running communities, providing a unique opportunity for MSU and MSU College students to engage and interact with Malaysia's diverse populace. This event also proudly aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, reflecting our commitment to global well-being and sustainability.

Goal 3 : Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages &
Goal 11 : Sustainable Cities & Communities - Protect the world’s cultural and natural Heritage.
Goal 17: Partnership for the goals

The previous International Songket Run was a dazzling success, attracting enthusiastic runners from the Shah Alam community. We invite our runners and potential partners to join us in supporting our rich heritage through this event. Our goal is not only to bring together a large number of participants but also to encourage them to improve their health by participating in this running program. During the event, we encourage creativity with a fun contest rewarding runners, such as the 'Most Outstanding Songket Family Runner.' This initiative aims to ensure that participants not only get fit but also create cherished memories with their loved ones while celebrating the beautiful Songket culture and tradition
