The league, previously known as the Kopiko Purple League (KPL), is back in its second season. The league, played amongst the 12 clubs will be held every Wednesday to Sunday starting from 4th November 2015 to 10th January 2016 at the Sports Arena @ Sentosa.
Backed by the Resorts World Genting (RWG) as the title sponsor, do expect adrenaline rushes getting up close and personal with our national hero, Dato’ Lee Chong Wei, the star player of the Petaling Jaya Badminton Club. Dato’ Lee will be participating for the first time in the league, adding his superstar touch and upping the ante to the Resort World Genting Purple League, which has always been the talk of the town amongst local badminton fans.
Also, if you’re lucky, you will also get to catch Korean heartthrobs Lee Hyun-il, Kento Momota, top European player, Jan O Jorgensen, former world no. 1 doubles’ player, Koo Kien Keat, 2003 All England Champion, Muhammad Hafiz Hashim, current women’s doubles top player, Woon Khe Wei and former Asian Junior Women’s Champion, Aya Ohori in action.
Spectators will also have the opportunity to witness the birth of new, emerging talents in the local arena, such as Yeoh Seng Zoe, who recently gained a berth to represent the Malaysian team in the World Junior Championships 2015 and Goh Jin Wei, rated as a genuine medal prospect for the 2020 Olympics. Joining in the fray of top national players are none other than Chong Wei Feng and Darren Liew.
