Timpohon Run 2026 is an exciting prelude to the Mount Kinabalu International Climbathon, offering participants a unique chance to race through Kinabalu Park, a UNESCO Global Geopark. Starting at the Main Gate, the route takes runners to the Timpohon Gate, follows the Mempening Trails, passes Liwagu Restaurant, and finishes at Kinabalu Hall. Open to all, it’s the perfect way to experience the challenge of the main race. The estimated route distance is 9.8 km.

RULES AND REGULATIONS


These rules may be cited as the Timpohon Run 2026 Rules. In these Rules:-


"TIMPOHON RUN"
refers to the Timpohon Run event.
"COMMITTEE" refers to the Organising Committee for the Timpohon Run.
"PARTICIPANT" refers to the participant of the Timpohon Run duly registered with
the Committee.

CATEGORY

● The Timpohon Run is open to local and international participants who are in good health and able to complete the race.


Men & Women Open Category
● All male and female participants must be a minimum of 18 years as of 17 October 2026, i.e. born on or  before 17 October 2008.
● Participants who have successfully secured an entry slot for the Mount Kinabalu International Climbathon shall not be eligible to register for the Timpohon Run.


ATTIRE
Each participant shall be free to choose his or own attire for the Timpohon Run. However, the usage of transparent attire is strictly prohibited.


PARTICIPANTS’ RACE ENTITLEMENTS
1. Running T-shirt (*Running t-shirt sizes are given on a first-come-first-served basis.)
2. Medal  
3. E-Cert (will be sent to email)


BIB NUMBERS FOR PARTICIPANTS
Each participant shall be given an official bib number, which must be affixed with safety pins on the front and back of the participant's attire. Race Bib swapping is illegal. This is especially important as emergency contacts are registered with the bib. This will also ensure that there is no cheating. If this should happen the runner will be immediately disqualified and the identity will be posted to all running events.

CUT-OFF TIME
The time limit allocated to each participant shall be as follows:

Men & Women Open (age 18 years above)
The time limit for the loop route, from start to finish, is 4 hours 30 minutes.
*Note: Runners who exceeded the cut-off time(s) will be "swept" back to the ending
point.


OUTSIDE ASSISTANCE
Each participant shall complete the Timpohon Run without any outside assistance. If this should happen, the runner will be immediately disqualified. The use of trekking
poles or stick poles is strictly prohibited during the Timpohon Run.


DRINKING WATER SUPPLY

Runners are required to be self-sufficient on the run course with water/aid stations (W) set up to cater for refilling of hydration packs or water bottles at intervals of about 2 kilometres to 3 kilometres along the marked race course. Please remember to bring your hydration pack. While water bottles will be provided at the event, we strongly recommend that runners also bring their own hydration packs.


CHECK STATION JUDGES
Check station judges with official name tags will be based at various check station(s) along the route. Each participant is required to pass through all check stations; failing which shall result in his or her automatic disqualification. Any participant decided to drop out during the race must notify the race staff and proceed to walk back to the starting/finishing line.


APPEAL JURY
Any participant may appeal to the Jury which shall consist of three members headed by a Technical Race Official. Any decision made by the appeal Jury shall be final.


INDEMNITY

The Committee shall not be liable for any injury or death, which occurs to any participant before, during or after the Timpohon Run.


AMENDMENT TO RULES AND REGULATION

The Committee reserves the right to amend the Rules of the Timpohon Run at any time as it may deem fit.

ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION RULES

You must stay on the trail at all times. Shortcutting is strictly prohibited. Picking up plants, animals, fungi, and rocks along the race course as well as within the overall race area is prohibited.


No littering along the course.

CLOSING DATE OF REGISTRATION

17th September 2026


RACE PACK COLLECTION:

Date : 16th October 2026
Time : 10.00 am - 6.00pm
Venue: Kinabalu Hall, Kinabalu Park

OTHERS
Due to the strict rules inside the park area, the Timpohon Run will not accept any
entry from runners participating for charitable reasons.

17 OCTOBER 2026 (SATURDAY)
05:30 am :  Arrival of participants at Main Gate, Kinabalu Park.
07:00 am :  Race Flag-off
08:30 am :  Expected the first runner to arrive at the finish line.
10:30 am :  Prize Presentation.
11:30 am :  Cut-off time for Men & Women Open Category at the finishing line.
12:30 pm :   Race ends.


IDEMNITY AND CONSENT

I understand that running is a potentially hazardous activity and I should not enter or participate unless I am physically fit and properly trained. I agree to abide by all rules and will not hold the Timpohon Run LOC liable for any accident, injury, or death that may occur before, during, or after my participation in the event. I hereby indemnify and hold harmless the Timpohon Run LOC against any claims arising in connection with my participation. I also consent to being filmed, videotaped, and photographed, and to having my image and voice recorded in any media during the event by the LOC’s official photographers, film crews, video crews, or any authorized party. I grant the Timpohon Run LOC full, irrevocable, perpetual, and worldwide rights and permission to use, and authorize third parties to use, my name, image, likeness, voice, and biographical information for ;

(1) news and information purposes, 

(2) promotion of the event in which I participate, and 

(3) commercial marketing purposes.
