Following a thoroughly successful concert at the Blue Mansion last October, we are excited to welcome Jacob Khalil back to Penang! Join us for an intimate evening with New York City's own singer, pianist and songwriter. In town for just one show, expect timeless jazz classics and reimagined modern tunes, with Jacob on the keys and his honeyed vocals to accompany.
From performing with Sam Smith on Saturday Night Live to headlining sold-out shows at Birdland Jazz Club, Jacob Khalil creates music that brings people together. Jacob is a New York-based singer-songwriter whose soulful piano-driven sound is equal parts fresh and classic. Jacob honed his craft performing in New York City’s piano bars, jazz clubs, and professional choirs, all of which profoundly influence his personal style. Described as a mix of John Legend and Harry Connick Jr. , his sound draws from jazz, R&B, and classic pop, and The New Yorker has called it “affable and sunny.” FOX 5 TV in NYC recently praised him as “a voice that soothes the soul,” and Broadway World noted, “Khalil is fun to watch... the kind of performer that makes people love live music.”
He most recently appeared as a featured vocalist alongside Paul Mescal in the Hollywood film History of Sound. Jacob’s original music has been featured in Warner Chappell’s production music catalogue for Film & TV. Originally from Houston, TX — he now resides in New York City where he holds a number of residencies at premier music venues and social clubs such as The NED Nomad, So & So’s, Pete Davidson’s Pebble Bar @ Rockefeller Center, each known for celebrity clientele.
