MIRI: Bintang Megamall and Meritz Hotel will jointly organise a charity run ‘Bintang Heart Run 2016’ on May 29 to mark the shopping mall’s 20th anniversary of operation since 1996.

Supported by Miri Fire and Rescue Zone 6, ZF Erikings and Bulatan Park Runner’s Club as technical support, the first charity run held by Bintang will be expecting approximately 1,500 people.

Speaking at a press conference Friday, Bintang’s senior event executive Allen Wong revealed that Miri Life Care Society, Malaysian Diabetes Association Miri Branch and Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS) will be the beneficiaries of the fundraiser.

“During such a difficult economy, we hope to lend a helping hand to these non-profit associations by raising funds to support their activities and we need support from members of the public to make this happen,” Wong said.

Eight categories are open to the public such as Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Men’s Veteran, Women’s Veteran, School Boys (13-17 years), School Girls (13-17 years), Family Boys and Family Girls.

The run will be divided into two categories: 7km for Men’s Open, Women’s Open, Men’s Veteran and Women’s Veteran; and 3.5km for School Boys, School Girls, Family Boys and Family Girls.

Wong also added that those interested to participate should register as early as possible to enjoy an early bird rate of RM50 per pax. The early price will be valid from March 1 to April 10 while after the period until the closing date on April 24, the normal rate for each participant will be RM60.

“The registration form is available at Bintang Megamall Information Counter and Share Tea (Boulevard Commercial Centre) while those outside Miri can contact 012-6403690 via Whatsapp phone application for more details,” he said.

Participants are entitled to a free t-shirt, a finisher medal and a door gift.
