Resorts World Genting is proud to host the 12th Genting World Lion Dance Championship 2016, and the Selangor & Federal Territory Lion Dance Association as consultant for this event. This competition is the most respected and recognized high-stilt lion dance championship in the world, with the very best lion dance teams from around the world competing to take home the grand prize and the honour of being recognised as ‘the best of the best’.

Steeped in tradition and culture, the lion dance has gained popularity across the globe over the years and is now an internationally recognised sport. From the rhythmic beat of the drums to the jaw-dropping stunts, the lions come alive and mesmerize you with their stunning acrobatic performances coupled with synchronized agility.

Audience can expect to have the most talented and creative lion dance troupes showcased as they will be treated to amazing feats of agility and colourful displays of showmanship as participants demonstrate the agility and balance of a Lion.

- The champion team will be awarded a cash prize of USD10,000 along with trophy and medals while the runners-up will receive USD6,000 and USD3,000 also with trophy and medals.
- The remaining finalists will receive USD1,000 cash prize and a trophy each.
- East and West Lion King trophies will also be awarded to the best teams from Asia and Western countries.
