SYNOPSIS
Short+Sweet Malaysia is the biggest little festival in the world. Now in its 9th year in Malaysia, it is a performing arts platform to showcase aspiring talents in a highly creative, collaborative, competitive and professional environment. This innovative and fresh performing arts festival features categories in theatre, dance, musical, stand-up comedy & song.
Short+Sweet Malaysia aims to nurture the creation and production of original works under 10 minutes in length; in all Malaysian languages; and to showcase and reward the best of, established and emerging writers, directors, actors, choreographers, dancers, composers, lyricists, comedians and singers. We hope to further develop arts audiences in the process for the arts industry.
We kick off SHORT+SWEET Malaysia 2016 KL festival at Kuala Lumpur on 7 September with SHORT+SWEET Stand-Up Comedy + Song, followed by musical, dance and finishing off with theatre, ending on 30 October.
The short listed works and talents will be slotted for the actual festival where they will be competing for a place in the Gala Finals and stand a chance to win some fabulous prizes. What is unique is that the audience can vote for their favourite pieces and that will determine who wins the People’s Choice Award!
SHORT+SWEET is a fantastic platform to showcase both veteran and emerging talents. The networking opportunity it creates is invaluable for all the festival participants. Audience will get to see bite-sized sampling of what the local scene can offer in stand-up comedy, song, dance, theatre and musical theatre. It is a great time for producers to also scout for talents for other upcoming productions.
