ABOUT THE SHOW
A grad student and teacher, Mimi thinks she’s found a good “one-shot kautim" topic to meet her many deadlines. She gets more than she bargains for, as the search for other women’s identities triggers questions about her own. The journey both inspires and appalls her, but as the deadlines loom and she’s still all over the place, all she can feel is a growing sense of panic! Meanwhile, a bevy of multicultural women from Colonial Malaya have something to say, and will not be left unheard!

This is NOT a lecture :) but a workshop performance which aims to collect and garner awareness about women's stories during the colonial era in what used to be Malaya. Materials are sourced from research, personal interviews, and the artist's response to the character's circumstances.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Last seen in TLC in ‘A Modern Woman Called Ang Tau Mui’, Marina Tan is an actor/director whose diverse interests include family theatre, Shakespeare, as well as everyday human stories told with contemporary realism. She believes that only by learning about the past can we understand the present and grow the future. In whatever stage of the creative process, Marina continues to be inspired by the stories, struggles, and spirit of humanity. During the day, Marina happily engages in focused frolic as the new Artistic Head of Pusat Kreatif Kanak-kanak Tuanku Bainun.
