Automechanika Kuala Lumpur 2017 will be organized on 23-25 March 2017 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
As the automotive market in the ASEAN body continues to grow, it is becoming increasingly important for firms to connect with companies and customers. Automechanika Kuala Lumpur, the only Malaysian automotive trade show co-organised with Malaysia Automotive Institute (MAI) and endorsed by Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), offering you a myraid of business opportunities!
Automechanika Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s leading regional trade fair for the automotive industry targeting trade visitors from ASEAN, is looking for the best mechanics in Malaysia to compete in the Mechanics Challenge to be held during the exhibition, which takes place 23 – 25 March 2017 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The show is expected to welcome 300 worldwide exhibitors and 8,000 global buyers to the 7,465 sqm exhibition space spanning four halls.
Organisers are urging independent workshop mechanics to throw their hat in the ring for a chance to compete in the challenge for the top independent mechanics in Malaysia. Eight teams will compete for the title of Automechanika Kuala Lumpur Mechanics Challenge 2017 champions.
Competitors have the amazing opportunity to win prizes, improve their mechanical skills with all the latest tools and equipment and receive acclaim and recognition from industry peers. Additionally, the competition allows participants to enrich their knowledge, exchange information and network. Top teams receive cash prizes, certificates awarded and recognised by the Department of Skills Development (Jabatan Pembangunan Kemahiran, JPK) under the Malaysian Ministry of Human Resources, and trophies for their abilities and hard work. The affiliated state associations where teams are based also receive monetary prizes and trophies.
Teams are to consist of three mechanics and one reserve mechanic. Competition hopefuls must complete an online multiple choice exam on mechanical theories in January 2017. The eight teams with the highest scores will be selected for the final round, which is during the Automechanika Kuala Lumpur exhibition in March. During the final round, each team will diagnose car malfunctions and repair the defects with the highest quality workmanship possible within the allotted time. The highest score depends upon the best-performed repair and diagnostic skills. The winning team will be announced at the fairground during the Automechanika Kuala Lumpur show.
The grand champion of the last edition was LSLY. Speaking on behalf of the team was Mr Tan Teck Liong who said, “We are very happy to be recognised for our mechanical skills and techniques through participation in the competition and it’s good to have a chance to apply the latest tools and equipment.”
Sponsoring the Mechanics Challenge provides an invaluable opportunity to showcase cutting-edge products and services to the thousands of buyers attending Automechanika Kuala Lumpur. In addition, the extensive global promotion from the comprehensive marketing of well-known organisers and a growing mechanic competition provides added exposure to all sponsors. This exposure provides a chance to further strengthen a marketable position in the global automotive aftermarket.
Recognising this promising marketing endeavour is returning car sponsor Mazda. The vehicle manufacturer will be providing the cars on which the competitors will be performing diagnostics and repairs. Mazda’s Mr Shamsuddin Amran, Divisional Manager, Aftersales, Bermaz Motor Trading Sdn Bhd, explained the company’s desire to continue to be the vehicle sponsor for the contest and said, “This event is well-known among mechanics in Malaysia. As a car sponsor for this event, it gives us a good opportunity to enhance the awareness of the Mazda brand as well as to share Mazda’s highly acclaimed SKYACTIV Technology with the automotive community. It is also the company’s corporate social responsibility to develop young talents to upgrade their skills competency to keep abreast with the latest vehicle technology.” Other industry supporters of the Mechanics Challenge include: The Federation of Automobile Workshop Owners' Association of Malaysia (FAWOAM), The Federation of Engineering and Motor Parts Traders' Association Malaysia (FEMPTAM) and Persatuan Pengusaha Industri-Industri Bengkel Malaysia (PPIBM).
