INTRODUCTION

The Management & Science University (MSU), through its Student & Career Development unit, proudly presents the 5th edition of the International Songket Run, held in conjunction with the ASEAN Songket Festival. This exciting event celebrates songket heritage—from clothing and handicrafts to culture—while inspiring youths and the community to cherish this invaluable legacy of Malaysia and ASEAN.

With the patronage of Her Royal Highness, the Raja Permaisuri Selangor, the first four editions drew over 10,000 participants, including students, local communities, and stakeholders. MSU has been recognized by the Malaysia Book of Records for:

  1. The largest number of people wearing songket elements in an event.

  2. The largest participation in a songket-themed running event.

The 5th edition will take place in Shah Alam, Selangor, starting and finishing at MSU Campus, Section 13. Participants can choose between 5km and 10km runs, open to local and international runners, including MSU students and staff. This event encourages social interaction, cultural appreciation, and healthy living.

The run also supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs):

  • Goal 3: Good Health & Well-being

  • Goal 11: Sustainable Cities & Communities – Protect cultural heritage

  • Goal 17: Partnerships for the goals

Beyond fitness, the run is a celebration of creativity and family fun. Participants can dress in songket-themed outfits, with prizes for categories such as “Most Outstanding Songket Family Runner.” Join us at the 5th edition of the International Songket Run to run for health, heritage, and happiness, creating lasting memories while celebrating Malaysia’s rich songket tradition.
