An Evening of German Masters’ Works: A Musical Journey Through German Romanticism and Heroism

Prelude to “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg” – Richard Wagner
This rousing overture opens Wagner’s only mature comic opera. Rich with triumphant brass and lyrical themes, the prelude captures the spirit of the opera’s story: a celebration of tradition, artistry, and human ingenuity. Wagner’s orchestration is vivid and majestic, offering audiences a grand and noble start to the evening.

Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 4 in G major, Op. 58 – Ludwig van Beethoven
One of the most poetic and intimate of Beethoven’s five piano concertos, the Fourth opens unconventionally—with the solo piano, calm and reflective. The concerto is admired for its lyrical beauty, intricate interplay between soloist and orchestra, and emotional depth. Pianist Norman Lee will bring this masterpiece to life with nuance and passion, navigating its gentle elegance and stormy power.

Beethoven Symphony No. 7 in A major, Op. 92 – Ludwig van Beethoven
Often described as one of Beethoven’s most rhythmic and exuberant symphonies, the Seventh is celebrated for its infectious energy and compelling momentum. From the solemn and haunting second movement to the whirlwind of the finale, the symphony showcases Beethoven’s genius in structure and dramatic expression. It’s a fitting finale to an evening dedicated to the power and brilliance of German orchestral music.
