Kinta Valley Symphonic Society

The Kinta Valley Symphonic Society (KVSS) is an Ipoh-based non-profit organisation made for the community by the community. KVSS was the brainchild of the late Dato’ Lim Keng Khay. Supported by a grant from the SiWu Education Trust to purchase instruments, the Kinta Valley Wind Orchestra was founded in 2010. Under the leadership of the Music Director and Conductor, Mr Eugene Pook, the orchestra has been a platform for many in the community to experience the finer arts of music. Since its establishment, KVSS has been committed to promoting the appreciation and performance of orchestral music. In 2024, our society expanded its horizons by forming three new ensembles alongside our flagship Kinta Valley Wind Orchestra (KVWO): Kinta Valley String Orchestra (KVSO), Kinta Valley Chinese Orchestra (KVCO), and Kinta Valley Symphonic Voices (KVSV). This growth reflects our dedication to fostering a vibrant and inclusive musical community, providing diverse opportunities for musical expression and collaboration. Through these initiatives, we aim to create enriching experiences that celebrate the beauty and diversity of orchestral music, appealing to audiences and performers alike.
